CODE OF PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

The Northern Association on Management Consultants is an informal association of consultants which expects members to abide by the following code of professional conduct.

1 To respect confidential information concerning a client's business and not to disclose, or permit the disclosure of, or use to the consultant's or consultancy's own advantage, any such information without the client's prior permission.

2 To undertake, diligently, impartially and honestly the work of any assignment and to ensure at all times a high professional standard of work.

3 To accept only those assignments which they are qualified and able to carry out and should others be engaged to assist with the assignment, to use every endeavour to ensure their qualifications and experience are appropriate to undertake the work.

4 To disclose to a client any personal or financial interests or other significant circumstances which might influence the work for that client in any way not stated or implied in the terms of reference, in particular:

- any Director or controlling interest in any competition with the client.

- any financial interest in goods or services recommended or supplied by the client.

- any personal relationship with any individual in the client's company.

- the existence, but not the name, of any current client (of the consultancy or the consultant personally) with competing interests.

5 To refrain from inviting any employee of the client to consider alternative employment (an advertisement in the press is not considered to be an invitation to any particular person).

6 To negotiate agreements and charge for consulting services only in a manner generally considered to be ethical and professional.

7 To provide and agree written terms of reference and other conditions with the client prior to the start of any assignment and to keep the client informed of progress throughout the assignment.

8 Not to practice during a period when the consultant's judgement is, or might be, impaired through any cause.
